November: Project Bread

Project Bread and the Walk for Hunger

***Project Bread has the distinction of being our first repeat Monthly Beneficiary! Fulfilling an important promise of The Benefit Restaurant Project, funding nonprofits can depend on, on December 17 Project Bread received their second-annual Monthly Beneficiary check from The Elephant Walk in Waltham, for $3,203.66. The Elephant Walk’s total funding to Project Bread to date is $6,225.11.***

As the state’s leading anti-hunger organization, Project Bread is dedicated to alleviating, preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts.

Through The Walk for Hunger, the oldest continual pledge walk in the country, Project Bread provides millions of dollars each year in privately donated funds to over 400 emergency food programs in 128 communities statewide. Project Bread also advocates systemic solutions that prevent hunger in children and elders, and that provide food to families in natural, everyday settings.

This month’s beneficiary

The Winter Quarter theme is FIGHTING HOMELESSNESS. We're proud to give our support this month to the Pine Street Inn which "provides a comprehensive range of services, including permanent supportive housing, job training, emergency shelter and street outreach to over 1,300 homeless men and women each day."
