October: Waltham Fields Community Farm

Three percent of The Elephant Walk in Waltham’s October sales are committed to Waltham Fields Community Farms.

Located on Beaver Street in Waltham, near Bentley University, Waltham Fields Community Farm [WFCF] is a local treasure. Teaching children of all ages about the joys and profound value of farming, Waltham Fields Community Farm is a nonprofit organization supporting farmland preservation, hunger relief, and education. Waltham Fields Community Farm

WFCF’s Hunger Relief work includes providing “fresh produce to emergency food programs in the Greater Boston Area, operating a special farmer’s market for low income residents of Waltham called the Waltham Fields Outreach Market, engaging in farm-to-school distributions with the Waltham Public Schools, and offering subsidized CSA [Community Supported Agriculture] shares.”

Hunger Relief, Improving Education, Social Entrepreneurship… Waltham Fields Community Farms shares a great many of the values that we hold dear. We’re proud they’re our October beneficiary! We encourage you to visit their excellent website.

Now, if I can only figure out how to get one of their precious CSA shares… :-) )

This month’s beneficiary

The Winter Quarter theme is FIGHTING HOMELESSNESS. We're proud to give our support this month to the Pine Street Inn which "provides a comprehensive range of services, including permanent supportive housing, job training, emergency shelter and street outreach to over 1,300 homeless men and women each day."

This site is a work-in-progress!

While most of the content is now in place, I must beg you for more time to finish the job. Thank you for your patience! - Bob
