Summer Quarter: Active Engagement

“Active Engagement” to us refers to the ways we can involve ourselves personally in solving social problems. The three ways we highlight are:

  1. Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation – implementing an effective new approach to solving an existing social problem, exemplified by our July beneficiary, More Than Words,
  2. Volunteerism – giving our time effectively, exemplified by our August beneficiary, City Year Boston, and
  3. Philanthropy – giving our money effectively, exemplified by SmallCanBeBig.org, our September beneficiary.

This month’s beneficiary

The Winter Quarter theme is FIGHTING HOMELESSNESS. We're proud to give our support this month to the Pine Street Inn which "provides a comprehensive range of services, including permanent supportive housing, job training, emergency shelter and street outreach to over 1,300 homeless men and women each day."
